Forth Region Information on World Scout Jamboree 2019
for Scouts, Explorer Scouts/ Young Leaders and Parents
Do you want the time of your life with Scouts from over 200 countries?

The 24th World Scout Jamboree will be hosted at Summit Bechtel Reserve adventure base,
West Virginia, USA. You can represent Forth Region. We have 27 places in a Scouts Scotland
Unit, within the UK Contingent. You will experience new adventures, cultures, and friendships.

It's Huge! The Jamboree itself is from 22nd July to 2nd August 2019. 45,000 will live on-site.
Additionally you will experience a Big City stay with the UK contingent, and receive home
hospitality staying with local Scouts from one of the North America Host Scout Organisations of Canada, Mexico and USA. The actual travel dates are yet to be agreed.

Interested? Want to go? Then send us a completed application!

To be able to go to the 24th World Scout Jamboree you must:

  • Have been born between 22nd July 2001 and 21st July 2005
  • This means you may be a Scout now but an Explorer Scout aged 14-17 when WSJ is on.
  • Attend a local event held 25th – 26th November 2017 and be selected.
  • Commit to WSJ preparation events and associated activities, fund raising and
  • continue to be an active member of the Scout Association.
  • Be prepared to pay or raise the expected cost of £3850.

This is paid in installments and covers all essential costs, including the training camps in the UK.
Will you pay the full £3850? – No. We want the WSJ to be accessible to our members**.

** WSJ only happens every 4 years and being selected is an honour for you and all those linked to your Scouting. So, although it is expensive, there will be Scouting help for you in fund raising.
Everyone selected is expected to take part in fund raising activities, including in a parent-led team, by you as an individual, with your WSJ Unit, and through local Scouting help. In the past some individuals have fund raised the entire amount through great individual and collective
efforts. Please contact me in confidence if you have any questions about affordability.
